Evgeny Korobov is a career officer of the Russian army.

In 2022, he was deployed to the combat zone in Ukraine. Refusing to continue participating in the war, he intentionally wounded himself to avoid returning to the front, after which he left the army and Russia.

Today, a criminal case for desertion has been opened against him.If he returns to Russia, he faces a long prison sentence.

After leaving his country, Evgeny Korobov applied for international protection in Kazakhstan, but his request was denied. The situation in the country remains unstable and precarious. Kazakhstan is becoming increasingly dangerous for Russian citizens who oppose the war and are prosecuted on political grounds.
